The Ohio Archaeological Council’s Education Committee is pleased to announce that Ohio Archaeology Month again will be held in October. This year’s theme is Archaeology is Everywhere.
Ohio Archaeology Month is a statewide event to recognize and celebrate archaeology in Ohio. This will be the eleventh year for the event that consists of activities throughout the state from Cleveland to Cincinnati and Toledo to Marietta. Past programs include artifact exhibits, flint knapping and atlatl throwing demonstrations, guided archaeological site tours, lectures, excavation opportunities, artifact identification, and more. Since its inception in 2000, over 11,000 people have attended over 95 public events aimed at celebrating Ohio’s rich cultural heritage. We hope to continue this tradition of public outreach and make this year our best yet!
