Membership Benefits

The Ohio Archaeology Council offers a variety of membership opportunities for all interested in archaeology. Joining the council gives members the opportunity to work with other archaeologist to help benefit archaeology in Ohio and educate the public. 

There are several different membership options to fit your best need and interest in the Council:

Active Membership:

Active Members shall demonstrate the capacity to conduct quality research as evidenced by published and/or unpublished archaeological reports and papers or documented portions thereof. Archaeological field experience and/or formalized education or training in archaeology is desirable but not a prerequisite. Active members have voting privileges. Annual dues for Active members is $30.00.

Associate Membership:

Associate Members shall demonstrate a bona fide commitment to Ohio archaeology consistent with the objectives of the Ohio Archaeological Council. They shall adhere to the professional standards of the organization as outlined in the Code of Regulations. Associate members do not have voting privileges. This category of membership is appropriate for professionals unable to attend regular meetings but with a supporting interest in the activities of the Ohio Archaeological Council and for interested avocational archaeologists and preservationists. Annual dues for Associate members is $30.00.

Student Membership:

Student Members shall demonstrate a bona fide commitment to Ohio archaeology consistent with the objectives of the Ohio Archaeological Council. They shall adhere to the professional standards of the organization as outlined in the Code of Regulations. Student members do not have voting privileges. This category of membership is appropriate for undergraduate or graduate students interested in interacting with professional archaeologists and wishing to advance their skills and experience in the field.  Annual dues for Student members is $20.00.

Institutional Representatives:

Institutional Representatives shall be ex officio members by virtue of their position within those institutions specified in Article VIII, Section 1(b)(3) of the Code of Regulations and within any other institution(s) as may be approved by the Board of Trustees. Only one  individual affiliated with each organization so approved may serve as an Institutional Representative. They have full voting rights in the Ohio Archaeological Council but may not serve as Trustees or Officers.

Organizational Representatives:

Organizations with an interest and/or involvement in Ohio archaeology may petition the Board of Trustees in writing through the Membership Committee for approval of such recognition. Only one individual affiliated with each organization so approved may serve as an Organizational Representative. Organizational Representatives have full voting rights in the Ohio Archaeological Council, but may not serve as Trustees or Officers.

Supporting Affiliates:

Any institution or its representative(s) may become affiliated with the Ohio Archaeological Council as a Supporting Affiliate with an annual contribution of at least $100, payable to the Treasurer of the Ohio Archaeological Council. Supporting Affiliates have no voting rights in the Ohio Archaeological Council and may not serve as Trustees or Officers.
