Meet this year’s field school scholarship awardee, Caroline Constantinovich. Caroline is a junior undergraduate at Youngstown State University majoring in Anthropology and Information Technology. She is a participant in IRLab’s Ohio Bioarchaeology Field School operating in Pickaway County, Ohio just south of Columbus. The Ohio Archaeological Council awarded Caroline a $750 scholarship.

Unsure of what to major in, Caroline credits her first anthropology class with the realization that she could combine everything she was passionate about – human history, anatomy, and culture – all into one career. After graduation, she plans to work in cultural resource management, and explore the US at the same time. She then plans to go to graduate school to get her PhD specializing in bioarchaeology. Her interests in bioarchaeology include forensic anthropology and child osteology.

The Ohio bioarchaeology program is the first of two field schools for Caroline this summer. Next up, she goes to Europe to excavate infant remains at Astypalaia, Greece.

Congratulations Caroline!
